Quick Start
This page covers how to start using Heiryn in your Discord server or in direct messages.
Invite the Bot #
Use the official invite link to add Heiryn to your server:
The bot can also be installed as a user app, which lets you use it in DMs and in servers where it is not a member.
Talk to Heiryn #
Once the bot is in your server (or installed as a user app), you can interact with it in several ways:
- Mention the bot in any channel where it has access and type your message. The bot will respond with an AI-generated reply and remember the conversation for follow-up messages.
- Use
/askto send a question as a slash command, with an optional private response mode. - Right-click a message and use the context menu to ask Heiryn about it, with or without additional context.
While Heiryn is working on a reply, a status message keeps you updated on what it is doing. You can cancel the query, move the reply to a thread, or keep the status message around from buttons on that message.
Visibility Modes #
When using the context menu, you can choose how visible the response is:
- Public: the reasoning and response are visible to everyone.
- Partial: the reasoning is hidden, but the response is visible.
- Private: everything is hidden and only you can see the response.
Conversation History #
Heiryn remembers the conversation context per channel. Messages in the same channel build on each other, so the bot can follow along with ongoing discussions.
Thread history is kept separately and lasts longer than regular channel
history. You can clear the history at any time with the /reset_history
command.
Conversation history is encrypted at rest. See Conversation History for details on retention and how to manage it.
Switching Models on the Fly #
You can change the AI model used for a single message, or for all your future messages, by adding a short suffix at the end of what you send. See Models for the full syntax.
Ask About the Bot Itself #
Heiryn can read its own documentation when you ask about its features. If you are not sure how something works, just ask in plain language and the bot will look it up for you.
Web Dashboard #
Heiryn has a web dashboard where you can manage your personal settings, API keys, and server configurations without using slash commands.
Visit https://heiryn.dis.gg/dashboard to sign in with Discord.
