Block Overview

Heiryn includes a blocking system that lets server staff prevent specific users from interacting with the bot. Blocks can be applied at the server level with optional durations and reasons.

How Blocking Works #

When a user is blocked, they cannot use any of the bot's commands or features. The block is checked automatically before every interaction.

  • Server blocks: prevent a user from interacting with the bot in a specific server. Server administrators are not affected by server blocks; if an admin encounters a server block, it is automatically removed.
  • Global blocks: prevent a user from interacting with the bot everywhere.

Block Details #

Each block records:

  • Who was blocked (user).
  • Who issued the block (author).
  • When the block expires (if a duration was set).
  • Why the block was issued (if a reason was provided).

Duration #

Blocks can be temporary or permanent:

  • Temporary: specify a duration when blocking (for example, 2d for two days). The block is automatically lifted when the duration expires.
  • Permanent: omit the duration to block the user indefinitely.

Supported duration units: s (seconds), m (minutes), h (hours), d (days), w (weeks), M (months), y (years). Maximum duration is 5 years.

Permissions #

The /block commands require the Moderate Members permission. Non-administrator staff cannot block members with an equal or higher role.
